CAD/Programming Specialist, Laser/Waterjet/Plasma

Purpose: To use a CAD program to draw and nest blanks for 2-D CNC equipment (plasma, laser, waterjet) for maximized utilization of plate and sheet by choosing the best available based on established parameters.
Duties will include various responsibilities such as:
• Attention to detail
• Be able to read, interpret and understand technical drawings and geometric dimensions and tolerance callouts
• Be computer literate and have ability to draw parts in CAD applications
• Accurately draw/program customers’ engineering drawings for cutting machines
• Be able to trouble-shoot and problem solve
• Using Sigmanest/Simtrans, nest multiple parts or orders to a plate or sheet to improve yield rates on nesting requirements and reduce lead-times by cutting ahead and reducing handling in shop
• Review open order requirements and combine nests to improve yields
• Reduce scrap
• Report utilization and machine times monthly so we have a target for continuous improvement
• Manage and set lead-times
• Provide information relating to machine capacity
• Participate in production meetings to provide input on continuous process improvements

Daily Objective: Practice and Support the high quality aerospace standard (AS9100) of Rolled Alloys' Quality Management System (QMS) and conduct responsibilities in a timely and safe manner.
Duties may include various responsibilities such as:
• Reading a tape measure and cutting to specific tolerances
• Converting fractions to decimals
• Read and follow what the customer has ordered and corresponding work instructions on the traveler (material inspection form)
• Perform material inspections
• Determine by physical inspection whether the material (to be) processed is correct
• Properly record inspection information on the traveler
• Record what can physically can be inspected, and determine if it meets the criteria of the order and material tolerances.
• Perform Positive Material Identification (PMI) on material (steel/metal) processed (X-Ray Analysis)
• Cutting solid and hollow stainless steel material via an Abrasive Saw Machine, Band Saw, or Cold Saw
• Grinding steel cut ends with a circular grind machine
• Accurately input order inspection and inventory return information
• Manage personal workflow to ensure on-time delivery of customer orders
• Assist with preventative maintenance of abrasive saws when needed
• Practice to the facility housekeeping standard (i.e. cleanliness, organization)
• Responsible for driving a forklift and operating an overhead crane
Skills and Abilities:

• Convert coiled steel (rod coil) into straightened bar via the Wire Straightening Machine (Rod Coil machine)
• Reading a tape measure and cutting to specific tolerances
• Converting fractions to decimals
• Read and follow what the customer has ordered and corresponding work instructions on the traveler (material inspection form)
• Perform material inspections
• Determine by physical inspection whether the material (to be) processed is correct
• Properly record inspection information on the traveler
• Record what can physically can be inspected, and determine if it meets the criteria of the order and material tolerances.
